The Worthington Spirit softball program is a competitive travel softball program that requires a tryout. Teams are formed for the 10U, 12U and 14U levels. Players and coaches are expected to attend all practices, clinics, and games as scheduled by the program. A players’ availability for practices and games may determine their team assignment. Pre-season practices are typically scheduled indoors at the Worthington Community Center on Saturday afternoons/evenings in November through March, with outdoor practices beginning as soon as the weather permits. Additional clinics are often held throughout the off-season for pitchers and catchers. The season runs from the first week of June through the end of July.

To be eligible for WYB Travel Softball, the player must attend a Worthington school, or be a resident in the Worthington School District. Participants are required to attend at least one tryout session that will be offered for each age group to be eligible for selection. There is no charge for tryouts. After the evaluation, players will notified of the outcome and receive a roster invitation, if selected.

Worthington Spirit teams will play in the Mannino's Softball Leagues. This league is made up of other community and travel teams based in Central Ohio. Typical game schedules include Dublin, Westerville, Hilliard and Olentangy teams. The league tries to schedule divisions to address the travel time and cost issues, but schedules are not available until spring. Games are doubleheaders 2 nights per week on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Home fields include Linworth Park, Snouffer Park, Thomas Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne fields.

Teams may be entered in local tournaments depending upon their level of competitiveness. The softball committee evaluates each team and their competitiveness prior to entering any tournaments. Most of these tournaments are local (Whitehall, Pickerington, Plain City, New Albany) and require weekend attendance, including some Friday afternoons.

Fees vary based on division and tournaments. Projected costs range from $450+ for 10U to $600+ for 12U. A deposit will required upon accepting a roster invitation; the remaining balance will be due in February.

Players will be sized for uniforms and spirit wear is dependent upon parent involvement.
